The OVER FORMER-TD, typically used for communication grades, is designed to supply greater drainage to the Fourdrinier wire and, at the same time, to improve the formation and fines distribution in Z-direction.
The same unit is used on middle plies on multi-wire forming sections, in order to cover the broad range of basis weight, normally imposed in these positions. The OVER FORMER-TD uses a forming shoe with three vacuum compartments and, in certain applications, utilizes also a loaded counter-blade. To control the inlet consistency as well as the outlet dryness, the OVER FORMER- TD is equipped with special suction boxes, installed in the bottom Fourdrinier before and after the top forming unit.The speed range of this application goes from 200 to 1,300 mpm, depending also on the type of paper to process.
